The Year of Uncertainty: QED Style Pivots to Offer Unique and Customized PPE Products
As 2020 continues to throw us all lemons, businesses who have a taste for lemonade may push through and come out even stronger. QED Style (QED) found an interesting opportunity in custom printed face masks and other PPE products. Originally known for their fashion line and custom printed apparel, QED knew it had the capabilities and resources to produce PPE products and help many businesses stay open and potentially generate unknown revenue.
Regardless of politics, no one enjoys wearing something that covers their face. There was a natural dislike for these products from the beginning. We found that custom printed masks quickly increased feelings of familiarity and community as well as introduced a “cool” factor in a product that was initially met with disdain. Our initial goal was to use our capabilities to service accounts and assist in their re-opening. Customers noticed staff wearing custom printed masks and wanted some for themselves and family members. The custom masks evolved into an incredible sales opportunity, and the numbers grew quickly!
Mike McRae, founder.
QED works with each business to custom design PPE products that incorporate logos, fabrics and other design features to compliment their environments, interior decor, or marketing motives.
If masks must be worn, why not utilize that real estate, whether it be through style, differentiation or branding. Our products are made with high-quality functional fabrics that will last for months. At this point, it seems like an investment with fast and easy returns for any type of business. Let’s turn this mess into a positive.

QED Style currently offers 10 different PPE products ranging from traditional behind-the-ear face masks to reversible 2-ply neck gaiters. All PPE products are custom printed and the entire production process is done in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since April, QED has hired over 25 sewers to help compensate for the increase in demand - all of which were previously unemployed due to Covid-19.
Helping fellow businesses and providing unemployed people with work has been incredibly rewarding and something we are very proud of as a company.
