New QED Style Concept for 2019: Paradise Shirt Series
Printed shirts have evolved into a significant part of the QED Style line. Various floral, plaid and geometric patterns have been major contributors in our distinction as a fashion forward lifestyle line. Most prints today are generated by a repeating pattern. A specific pattern is made into a digital file, or digital artwork, that is then processed and printed directly onto the surface of a fabric. Size, repeat, scale, and the artwork itself are major contributors to the final product’s visual appeal and overall success. Recent fashion trends are seeing photographs, not patterns, as the “artwork” being used and printed on fabrics. As you can imagine, this can provide a different effect as photographs are difficult to seamlessly repeat like shapes or patterns. Nonetheless, we have never been ones to back down from a challenge. Especially if it’s trending! In upcoming seasons, you will see us dabbling more and more into photographic printed shirts. For now, we’ll introduce you to our Paradise Shirt Series.
I think we can agree that grass is a fairly integral part of the game of golf. Not only is it the surface in which we play on, it also greatly impacts how, why and where golf courses are designed. Dozens of different grass species are chosen for golf courses throughout the world. Each of these species has a number of sub-species that is specifically suited for a certain climate, season and usage. Given so, they have their own appearance and “personalities” when viewed up close. Blade shape, blade size, root system and even flowering make each grass noticeably different and even beautiful!
The Paradise Shirt Series is a collection of grasses photographed up close. These photographs are then getting sized, scaled, repeated and printed onto fabric…just as we discussed above. For the golf enthusiasts, course superintendents, agronomists, botanists or anyone who seeks out beauty in something, we think you’ll enjoy this concept.
Available to ship January 25th, we are first unveiling the Bentgrass Paradise shirt. Why? Because well manicured Bentgrass is the greatest thing in the history of the world. We all know that as fact.
As the year moves on, we will be offering Poa Annua, Kikuyu, Bermuda and even dormant Bermuda printed shirts. Each will have their distinct appearance, texture and possibly sensation. Dormant Bermuda is brittle, feels scratchy and smells dry. Conversely, Bentgrass is a velvety carpet of densely packed blades that reminds us of pure pure rolls of the golf ball. We even hope the flowering Poa or tough lies of Kikuya makes some of you anxious and curse. Point being, we want these sensations and impressions to be very much a part of the garment! Each of the shirts in the series will also be nicely detailed and finished with our unique wooden tee top buttons (as used on the popular Glendale shirt).
Thankfully, the initial reception to this concept has been quite strong. We will be sending out notices as new grass prints become available. A limited amount of each will be produced, so we will be accepting pre-orders online. Estimated ship dates will be listed at the respective product’s info column.
As always, please reach out with questions, thoughts and/or feedback. The shirts in the series will be available to see as samples down at the QED Style store. Stop by and check them out!
Cheers,
QED Style
